Case Study: ACS
THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE
In the beginning, RFD was tasked with the stabilization of one of ACS’ flagship products, Kidstar, which is a Child support state disbursement unit receipting application. Kidstar replaces an older architecture set that was previously used by ACS government solutions. As RFD fell into the ACS process fold, we began to suggest process improvements. Overall, the suggested improvements were more streamlined and relied on less manual intervention to process child support payments.
THE RFD DIFFERENCE
RFD currently supports ACS in their Government and Community Solutions Group. The scope of our support for ACS surrounds Child Support collection systems for more than 10 states including Texas, New York, Ohio, Florida, Arizona, Maryland, New Jersey, Wisconsin, and Indiana.
The majority of the applications being supported are architected around JEE. (Java Enterprise Edition). The support agreement involves several products that ACS owns wholly; namely, Kidstar, eChildsPay, ExpertPay, Accord, Diron, and several new hire and medical support systems.
RFD also provides 24X7/365 support for business users in regards to the previously mentioned products.
NOW AND THE FUTURE
The ongoing role of RFD is to support day to day production issues and to combine the code base of Kidstar back into a product for future implementations. Currently, RFD staff works side by side with internal ACS information technology staff. RFD has five dedicated employees assisting ACS. There are legacy applications that we help support that are written in Visual Basic 6 and .NET.
