THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE


RFD’s relationship with Bearing Point began with a vehicle license renewal application operated by Texas Online, a portal that provides Texans with access to state and local government agencies. The mission involved a messaging infrastructure crucial to the financial transaction phase of the customer interaction with Texas Online.

THE RFD DIFFERENCE


Initially, transactions were performed manually with tradition hands-on processes that cost tax payers both time and money whenever they wanted to renew their vehicle licenses. The current application involves technologies and applications built with Websphere, MQ, iPlanet, BEA Weblogic, and Solaris.

NOW AND THE FUTURE


Since the initial installation in 2002, RFD has been involved in several production migrations requiring careful planning and coordination to make changes to a live system that supports several million state citizens.

Using RFD process know-how, hurdles involving cross-agency coordination and phased migration through development, test, staging and production have been overcome. Thoroughness and close coordination with contractor and agency staff is necessary for successful execution. RFD works closely with Bearing Point staff to make Texas Online run seamlessly and smoothly.
