Business Analysis
At RFD, we realize that it takes more than cutting-edge technology to stay ahead of the competition. Deciding whether to upgrade a legacy system or to explore the latest software innovation can greatly impact a business's resources and its bottom line.
So how does one balance the line between cutting-edge and bleeding-edge?
Analyzing the impact of technology solutions is what our business analysis team does best. We understand that keeping technology current is a necessity in today's world. However, we also look at the complete picture to include the mission of the organization, the legacy investment, and the return on investment of new technology as part of a solution. Finally, we apply this holistic approach to the process to determine best-fit service offerings.
These offerings can include:
- BEA SOA assessment
- Business strategy elaboration
- Communication strategy development
- Organizational change management
- Process analysis and mapping
- Process re-engineering
RFD knows that finding the right balance for technology solutions can mean the difference between being on the cutting-edge-and going over it.
In 2005-2006 RFD completed three audits for large Texas state agencies:- External services provider security - We looked at FTPs, Websphere Portal security (including integration with legacy security and identity federation), single signon, risks, vulnerabilities, and potential fraud in handling of confidential/sensitive data
- Mainframe security - We considered security and administration of all production subsystems and interfaces
- IT security including two major subcontractors - This agency privatized much of its massive operation and must provide extensive oversight. RFD evaluated IT requirements, design, development , deployment, change control, accountability. Scores of interviews and analysis of everything from staffing to code were conducted. The findings are of interest to high levels of government, and recommendations for changes are expected to result in significant improvements in public service.
